Seadog
Ketch Ci-môr
For sale due to owners upsizing
Ci-môr
is believed to be the last yard-built Seadog (No. 140). She was completed
in 1976. As such she differs in some respects from earlier 'dogs'. In 1991
a bowsprit was added to increase working sail area and to better balance
the rig. This has greatly improved her sailing. Seadogs are
held by many to be a 60/40 motor-sailors, but they are nonetheless capable
of sailing passages of 5-6 knots average (for example Ci-môr
has done the 96 sea miles from Camaret to Belle Ile 16 hours).
The name Ci-môr (pronounced ‘Kee-more’) is Welsh for ‘sea dog’. She has always been based in Wales. She has been extensively cruised on the Atlantic seaboard, has made passages to Madeira and the Azores and has been a frequent visitor to classic boat festinly three yachts to visit every venue in ‘Celtic Voyage 2000’ which included Brest and Douarnenez. In 2001 she completed a circumnavigation of Ireland and took part in the International Festival of the Sea at Portsmouth. She is currently lying ashore in West Wales. She is very well found and open to offers in the region of £26,000.
