| Buying a Battery what
I need to know
Note: When using NiMH type batteries
it is recommended to use the charger type CBC405 to ensure proper
charging. This will be rewarded with the full benefits of using the latest
technology. One other advantage is
the ability to charge from your car while on the move.
What I need to know about ordering
When ordering ANY battery ensure it will fit. If your Camcorder uses
internal batteries use a SLIMFIT, these
batteries are no thicker than the original supplied with your
camcorder.
Canon
Many Canon camcorders with 6 volt batteries have a fitting under the
handgrip. On bulky (longer recording)
batteries over and including 1800mAh in NiCads a velcro extension is provided
to extend the handstrap where
the battery fits under the handgrip. If you are not comfortable with this
arrangement stay with SLIMFIT
batteries.This may only be available in NiMH no memory types, where with
Canon a NiMH charger is
recommended for best results.
Sharp
On some Sharp Viewcams a BT80BK battery was used and on Hi8 models
this fitted inside comparment. The
battery was a 2400mAh NiCad and since the updates to 2600mAh it is found
that the battery lid will not close
as the newer batterries are a whisker thicker. In this case you must stay
with slim batteries.
Sony
Many Sony Info Lithium types require the latest battery model to function.
DTVS now stock these batteries.
Older models will continue to operate on normal Info batteries so check models.
