Design Notes

To make this pumpkin, I assembled an orange object from a number of copies of a squashed sphere which I rotated around an axis to give a sort of segmented look.

Then I cut a lighter orange coloured sphere out from the inside and poked a variety of light orange coloured holes through to make eyes, nose and mouth.

The lighting is quite important for the overall effect. I positioned a light source outside the pumpkin, up and to one side. The other two lights are inside the pumpkin. One is a bright light close to the bottom of the inside surface, this is about where a candle would be. The other is a spotlight shining down on the first just to make the candle area glow a bit more.
